so for our latest Intro to Sequential assignment, we have to pick a well-known comic book/strip artist and pay homage to their style with an iconic movie scene. I chose Mike Mignola (creator of Hellboy) and Pulp Fiction. I decided to a cover and a 2 page comic. first I checked out some books from the SCAD library and did some studies, so here's what I have for that. Thankfully he has these like...sketchbook pages in the back of his comics to show his sketches and how he builds up the figure, which was VERY helpful. Mike I really love your style <3 The point of this project was to choose a style that made you do something different. I'm deathly afraid of spot blacks, they make me nervous! and Mignola uses them EVERYWHERE, so. freaking. well. he could have a page that's 70% black and its still evident what he's depicting. I love it, and I want to add that dramatic lighting to my repertoire :)
